Tenterfield Shire Council is pleased to announce that Terry Dodds of Tura Beach in NSW has accepted the role of Chief Executive after the Council unanimously endorsed his appointment on Tuesday, 5 September 2017 at an Extraordinary Meeting called to conduct final interviews for the role.
Tenterfield Mayor, Councillor Peter Petty said Terry was chosen after a search of candidates from across Australia and overseas, and following a very competitive selection process from a high-calibre field of twenty three (23) experienced candidates who came from New South Wales, Queensland, the Northern Territory, Victoria and Canada.
“Terry highly impressed all Councillors with his collaborative leadership style, his passion for local government and serving communities, and his obvious project and asset management experience. We interviewed eight (8) highly credentialed candidates from the twenty three (23) candidates, even one from Canada, an Australian working there as a city manager. Overall, Terry demonstrated he has the experience, qualifications and desire to do an outstanding job. With Terry’s leadership and the hard-working staff of the Council, Tenterfield is in very good hands.” said Mayor Petty.
The Council was very impressed with Terry’s understanding of small rural councils, his vision for the future, and his proven experience and achievements. He has a Diploma in Project Management (High Distinction) from the University of New England, an Advanced Diploma Engineering (Civil) from New South Wales TAFE, an Advanced Certificate in Personnel Management from NSW TAFE, and is a Certified Process Professional (Six Sigma) from IQPC Australia.

Reflecting on his appointment, Mr Dodds said, “It is an honour to have been selected to lead this very impressive organisation and to be part of this vibrant community. I am thankful for the warm welcome I have received from the Mayor and Councillors and I look forward to meeting the staff and community of Tenterfield. I am very excited about what the future will bring in working together in the interests of the Tenterfield community”.
