Level 4 Water Restrictions Currently Apply for Tenterfield

Tenterfield Dam is predicted to be at 40% capacity by the end of February 2019. Whilst Council has enacted its Drought Management Plan and Tenterfield is currently on Level 3 water restrictions, it is prudent that Level 4 water restrictions commence from Friday. 15 February 2019.

Level 4 water restrictions are designed to reduce normal daily household consumption by at least 30%, with a target of 180 – 260 litres per person per day. During this stage, policing of the restrictions is implemented and fines able to be issued.

The Level 4 restrictions for domestic or residential properties include:

  • Restricted use of micro sprays / garden watering systems to 1 hour a day, limited to between 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm daily Daylight Saving Time; and between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm Eastern Standard Time;
  • Restricted use of hand held hoses to 1 hour a day, limited to between 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm daily Daylight Saving Time; and between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm Eastern Standard Time;
  • The filling of swimming pools and spas is banned;
  • Washing cars or cleaning hard surfaces is banned;
  • The use of fixed hoses or sprinklers for gardening is banned;

Residents are asked to abide by these restrictions from Friday, 15 February 2019.

Commercial properties are now subject to more restrictions, including:

  • Public gardens, sporting grounds, show grounds can use hand held hoses  for 1 hour between 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm daily Daylight Saving Time; and between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm Eastern Standard Time;
  • Nurseries can use hand held hoses for 2 hours between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm daily Daylight Saving Time; and between 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm Eastern Standard Time;
  • Market Gardens can use sprinklers for 2 hours between 6:30 pm and 6:30 am daily Daylight Saving Time and Eastern Standard Time.
  • Utilising water for ready mix concrete is limited to 8 hours of operation per day.
  • The use of automatic stock troughs is now limited to filling between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm daily Daylight Saving Time and Eastern Standard Time;
  • The washing of motor cars, operation of fountains and auto flush toilets/urinals is BANNED;
  • Water carters require Council Approval.
