Council provides a range of water access points across the Shire to support residents, businesses and rural operations. These include potable (drinking) water dispensing units and non-potable village bores for firefighting and stock use.


Potable Bulk Water (Safe for Drinking)

Tenterfield Bulk Water Dispensing Unit

Location: Melaleuca Court, Industrial Estate, Tenterfield
Cost: $7.80 per kilolitre
Water Type: Potable (safe for drinking)

Urbenville Bulk Water Dispensing Unit

Location: Tooloom Street, Urbenville
Cost: $7.80 per kilolitre
Water Type: Potable (safe for drinking)

 


Tenterfield Town & Village Bores (Non-Potable – Stock Use Only)

Council has delivered village bore infrastructure across several communities to strengthen water security and support essential needs during dry periods for firefighting and livestock purposes.

Cost: $3.85 per kilolitre

Important: Bore water is non-potable and not suitable for household use. It is available for stock purposes only.

Locations

  • Drake: Drake Sports Oval / cricket oval behind Drake Hotel
  • Liston: Acacia Street
  • Legume: Corner of Acacia Avenue and Mount Lindsay Road
  • Torrington: Sherratt Road
  • Apex Park: located in Apex Park which is accessed off the New England Highway on the southern approaches to Tenterfield.

To consider when accessing this water:

  • Access is only available by vehicles 4.5 tonne GVM and under (no trucks) for 1,000 litre pods only
  • Persons will need to provide own hose and tap fitting of 1” internal diameter
