ANZAC Day 2019

You are most welcome to join the Tenterfield community in their ANZAC Day activities to remember and pay tribute to those who paid the supreme sacrifice, to those who returned and still wear the scars of war today and also to remember the current defence personnel serving overseas around the world.

Parking:
Please be advised that Molesworth Street will be closed to traffic from 5:00 am for the Dawn Service through to 11 :50 am for the finish of the march and service.
Parking for the Dawn Service and the Community Commemorative Service at Memorial will be to the rear of the hall or in the grounds of the Court House/Police Station adjacent to Memorial Hall. Access is either Martin or Scott Streets.
Manners Street (Logan to Rouse Street) will be closed to traffic prior to the march from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.
Closure of streets is to ensure the safety of the participants and community attending the ANZAC Day activities.

Dawn Services
Commences at 5:30 am, conducted by the Tenterfield RSL Sub Branch. Following this service, those who wish are invited to attend a short service at the Tenterfield Cemetery (short drive to the west on the edge of town) in front of the Australian War Graves area.
The address is provided by the Mayor ofTenterfield. The RSL members, Mayor, School Representatives and community attendees will lay wreaths in remembrance whilst the Duty Piper plays the 'Lament'.

Gun Fire Breakfast
Commences at the conclusion or the Dawn Services in the RSL Pavilion at the rear of the Memorial Hall. The breakfast is provided by the Tenterfield RSL Sub Branch. Cost for the breakfast is $2.00.

ANZAC Day March
Commences at 10:30 am. The forming up of participants starts at 10:00 am under the control of the Parade Marshall in Manners Street (Telegraph Hotel). All veterans, serving personnel and visitors to Tenterfield who wish to march in remembrance of their family and friends are most welcome to.
Please remember, those family members wishing to march and wear family medals on the day that they are to worn over the right breast pocket. The march moves north through the main street and is led by the RSL Sub Branch Patron, followed by veterans in vehicles, RSL Sub Branch including National Service and visiting veterans, Tenterfield Highland Pipe Band, Police, Schools, Salvation Army and the J.F. Thomas Light Horse Troop. The march concludes Memorial Hall.

Community Commemorative Service
Commences at 11 :00 am approximately at the conclusion of the march at the Memorial Hall. The ANZAC Day Community Commemorative Address is delivered by a serving Defence or Returned Veteran on the day.

They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old, Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn, At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them.
