COVID 19

Council has implemented strict protocols to ensure we comply with directions issued by government in relation to managing the COVID 19 risk. These protocols apply to our staff, our customers and visitors to our premises, and councillors alike. Some non-essential services have ceased altogether, others are still in operation but due to social distancing have added levels of complexity. Please be understanding that we will do our best to maintain services and help in what are unique and challenging circumstances.

COVID-19 – Public Library Services

Closed from Thursday, 19 March 2020

Tenterfield, Urbenville and Torrington libraries will be closed from 19 March 2020 until further notice resulting in the cancellation of all programs and meetings, however home delivery services will continue to operate as safety protocols are in place. Staff will be available during normal work hours, Monday to Friday via phone (02) 6736 6060 and email tenpublib@tenterfield.nsw.gov.au.


Special Events at the Tenterfield Public Library

Small community groups are encouraged to enquire about what the Library can offer them in the way of resources and informal meeting spaces.

Children’s Storytime – First Wednesday of each month at 10.30 am (except school holidays)

  • For children from babies to 5 years of age
  • Sessions run for approximately 20 minutes
  • Stories and rhymes based on a different theme each month
  • Session is for adults and children together

First Tuesday Book Club

  • Held on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 10.00 am in the Library’s Family History area
  • Informal discussion on books chosen by the group
  • Titles chosen tend to be interesting, lighter fiction by bestselling authors

Summer Reading Club at Tenterfield Library

  • For all pre-school, primary and secondary aged children and young adults
  • Program runs from 11 December 2017 to 25 January 2017
  • Register at Tenterfield Library from the 11 December 2017

Tenterfield Knitters

  • Meet each Tuesday from 10am – 12 noon in the Library lounge area
  • Informal knit and natter
  • Community knitting projects

Family History Group

  • Meet 2nd Tuesday of each month at 1.30pm in the Library’s Family History area
  • Meeting, discussion and workshops
  • Assistance with Family History queries
