The NSW Government has commissioned an independent expert inquiry into the 2019-20 bushfire season to provide input to NSW ahead of the next bushfire season.
Dave Owens APM, former Deputy Commissioner of NSW Police, and Professor Mary O’Kane AC, Independent Planning Commission Chair and former NSW Chief Scientist and Engineer, are leading the Inquiry, which is reviewing the causes of, preparation for and response to the 2019-20 bushfires. Professor O’Kane and Mr Owens are visiting fire-affected communities and invite community members to share their views and experiences to inform the Inquiry’s work.
A community meeting will be held at Tenterfield at the Memorial Hall, Molesworth Street, Tenterfield at 4.00pm on Sunday, 8 March 2020.
Submissions to the Inquiry are now open, and feedback can be provided in a number of ways:
Council is organising buses from Drake (to Plains Station Road), Urbenville and Torrington to support transport needs for those people who wish to attend this Community Meeting. If you would like to travel by bus, please email Rebekah Kelly (r.kelly@tenterfield.nsw.gov.au) to advise from which village.
