COVID-19 – Public Library Services

Tenterfield Shire Council is continuing to review health advice regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and has put in place changes to meet guidelines for public safety. These guidelines have been implemented to ensure Council staff are available to meet the needs of the community throughout the crisis, with community and employee safety front of mind.

From Monday, 14 December 2020, Opening Times will be 10.00 am to 5:00 pm – Monday to Friday.  It is essential that you contact Library staff on 6736 6060 or email library@tenterfield.nsw.gov.au to book computer time.

Internet Access

Free Internet and computer access are available in the Tenterfield and Urbenville Libraries when they are open. See each library’s’ details for opening times. Bookings are recommended.

  • Bookings are essential and children under 9 years must be accompanied by an adult
  • Printing in black and white or colour are available at Council’s prescribed rates
  • Patrons should consult staff for free access to Wireless Hotspot
  • Patrons wishing to improve their computer skills may access the The Computer School (link is external) link free of charge

Digitised Newspapers – Available through the Library Catalogue.

Tenterfield Star Newspapers 1875 to 1955 are available online for keyword searching.  Please contact staff.

Home Library Service

The Library offers a free three weekly home delivery service on a medical recommendation to frail/aged persons living within the Tenterfield Township. Staff can deliver books, magazines, large print and audio books, DVDs and CDs. Please contact the Library for further information. Tenterfield Family and Local history resources

The Library holds a collection and family and local history resources for the public to use, including a large collection of book titles, digitised Tenterfield Star newspaper up to 1955 is available on the Library catalogue. Members and visitors can use Ancestry Library (only available in the library) for family history searches.

The Tenterfield Family History Group meets at Centenary Cottage at 1.30pm on the 2nd Tuesday of the month and can be contacted by email: tenterfieldfhg@gmail.com

 

Find Legal Answers at Your Library

Tenterfield Library stocks the ‘Find Legal Answers Tool Kit’ as part of its reference collection, along with brochures and other information about the legal system.

This can also be accessed online through the ‘Find legal answers tool kit’ website (http://www.legalanswers.sl.nsw.gov.au/) which includes links to electronic versions of the brochures held in the library, information for HSC Legal Studies students, legal research and a legal advice guide.
