Due to the position of Tenterfield’s water supply dam immediately upstream from the population centre, the NSW Dam Safety Committee required council to undertake analyses of Tenterfield Creek Dam to ensure its integrity, especially in light of recent flood events. These analyses revealed the potential for future failures in the dam under certain rare combinations of flood and asset condition factors. As a result the NSW Dam Safety Committee requires Council to reinforce the dam to ensure that it meets requirements in terms of flood and earthquake handling capacity.
