Council has implemented strict protocols to ensure we comply with directions issued by government in relation to managing the COVID 19 risk. These protocols apply to our staff, our customers and visitors to our premises, and councillors alike. Some non-essential services have ceased altogether, others are still in operation but due to social distancing have added levels of complexity. Please be understanding that we will do our best to maintain services and help in what are unique and challenging circumstances.
Due to the position of Tenterfield’s water supply dam immediately upstream from the population centre, the NSW Dam Safety Committee required council to undertake analyses of Tenterfield Creek Dam to ensure its integrity, especially in light of recent flood events. These analyses revealed the potential for future failures in the dam under certain rare combinations of flood and asset condition factors. As a result the NSW Dam Safety Committee requires Council to reinforce the dam to ensure that it meets requirements in terms of flood and earthquake handling capacity. Information on the project is contained here.
