Council has adopted its Delivery Program 2025-2029 and Operational Plan and Budget 2026-2027, outlining the services, projects and priorities that will guide Council's work over the coming financial year.
The plans set out the practical actions Council will deliver to support local communities while maintaining a strong focus on long-term financial sustainability.
Mayor Bronwyn Petrie said the Operational Plan balances the delivery of essential services with careful financial management during a challenging period for regional councils.
"Council staff and Councillors will continue to work with the community towards the goals of maintaining and improving our Shire for the good of our residents and visitors, and ensuring a financially stable and sustainable Tenterfield Shire Council."
Key priorities for 2026-2027
Some of the year's priorities include:
- Delivering essential services across the Shire.
- Continuing disaster road reconstruction as government approvals are received.
- Maintaining a sustainable financial position.
- Pursuing grant funding for priority infrastructure projects.
- Working alongside community organisations to deliver local facilities and services.
- Continuing advocacy for fair funding for regional councils.
Working together with our community
Council continues to work closely with local organisations to achieve positive outcomes across the Shire.
Recent partnerships include:
- Friends of Tenterfield Aerodrome.
- Tenterfield Chamber of Tourism, Industry and Business.
- School of Arts Tenterfield Incorporated.
These partnerships are helping deliver improvements to community facilities, tourism services and cultural programs with the support of our wonderful community volunteers who generously share their time and local knowledge.
Looking ahead
While financial pressures remain for many regional councils, TSC will continue seeking external grant funding, advocating for fairer funding arrangements and delivering services in a financially responsible way.
