Village Bore Commissioning Completed in Torrington and Drake
Tenterfield Shire Council is pleased to advise that the village bores in Torrington and Drake have now been successfully commissioned and are fully operational.
This milestone celebrates the completion of vital infrastructure designed to strengthen water security and improve drought resilience for both communities. The newly commissioned bores will provide a reliable supplementary water source for firefighting and livestock purposes, supporting essential needs during periods of low rainfall and increased demand.
These projects form part of Council’s broader focus on strengthening critical infrastructure in rural and remote areas of the Shire. Over the past two years, Council has delivered four village bore projects across Liston, Legume, Drake and Torrington, significantly improving water security for these communities. This coordinated program reflects Council’s continued investment in practical, long-term solutions to support resilience in the face of future climatic challenges.
Funding Acknowledgement
Council gratefully acknowledges the support of the jointly funded Australian and NSW Governments’ Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund, funded through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, to deliver these projects.
Ministerial Comment
NSW Minister for Regional NSW, Tara Moriarty said “The Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund was established to support communities and assist them in building resilience, and what better example of this than strengthening water security in rural and remote NSW."
"The two bores in Torrington and Drake will be incredibly valuable to the local community in times of need. Congratulations to Tenterfield Shire Council for the completion of this infrastructure and their ongoing efforts to improve drought security – something the NSW Government is also committed to.”
