Notice: Traffic Alert - Closure Of Molesworth St For Bridge Replacement Works includes access and detour route maps
Council advises that Molesworth Street will close between Duncan Street and Scott Street from Wednesday, 19 August 2026 to allow for the replacement of the Molesworth Street Bridge over Tenterfield Creek.
The closure is expected to remain in place until approximately mid-2027 while bridge replacement works are completed.
Civil Mining and Construction (CMC) has been engaged as the Principal Contractor, with removal of the existing bridge scheduled to commence in late August.
Access and detours
During construction:
- Molesworth Street between Duncan Street and Scott Street will be closed to all motorists and pedestrians.
- The creek-side footpath near the bridge will also be closed for the duration of the works to maintain safety for pedestrians and construction workers.
- A signed detour route will be in place via Duncan Street, High Street and Scott Street.
- Access to nearby properties, including the Tenterfield Bowling Club, will be maintained throughout the construction period.
Works will include demolition, site preparation, construction of the new bridge and associated pathways. Construction is expected to take approximately 10 months, subject to weather and site conditions.
Council appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents, businesses and road users while these essential works are underway.
