“World-class internet access, regardless of your postcode”
Soon, residents in regional, rural and remote areas can expect improvements and better reliability of their internet service.
NBN Co has announced a new partnership with Amazon’s low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network, designed to deliver faster, more reliable internet to homes and businesses that rely on satellite connections.
For communities like ours, this means:
• Improved speeds and performance, with potential for significantly faster downloads than current satellite services (nbn Sky Muster customers)
• Lower latency (less delay), making video calls, online learning and business activities smoother
• Better reliability, particularly during peak times or in more remote locations
The new service is expected to begin rolling out across Australia from mid-2026, progressively replacing the current Sky Muster satellite network over time.
Importantly, this upgrade is aimed at ensuring regional communities can access “city-quality” broadband, supporting work, education, healthcare and everyday connectivity.
Council will continue to monitor the rollout and share updates as more information becomes available, including eligibility and how residents can access the service.
